Cetearyl Alcohol is a mixture of fatty alcohols consisting predominantly of cetyl and stearyl alcohols found in plants, like Coconut and Palm oils (Wiki). Cetearyl Alcohol is used in cosmetics as a stabilizer to thicken an emulsion and keep it from separating.
